  • FaceBook changes its company name to Meta as part of its rebranding process

Today, Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook’s new company name will be, Meta. The new name was announced today at the Facebook Connect conference. Zuckerberg claims the former name, Facebook, only focused on one product that the company created and the name change would help reflect their shift to focusing on the metaverse. Facebook doesn’t want to be known as just being a social media company since they’re focusing on things like Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. Zuckerberg also said that the company’s leadership won’t be changing but it will change how it reports financial results in earning calls and more. Facebook will now report on two segments which include Family Apps and Reality Labs. They also plan to start trading under a new stock ticker called MVRS. This name change is very similar to how Google changed their name to Alphablet back in 2015. The new name change will put Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Oculus under the Meta name. The rebranding comes a couple of weeks after a Facebook whistle blower leaked all of the company’s internal documents and research notes. Facebook has been receiving a lot of backlash lately and rebranding the company during this time felt more like a PR stunt to drift away from the bad press. Mark Zuckerberg believes the name change was important because they are more than just a social media company.

Image: RendersbyIan Apple has already announced new redesigned Mac products with is two year transition to Apple Silicon. Next in the line is the new MacBook Air refresh which is expected to have a new design similar to the iMac. According to a new tweet from @dylandkt on Twitter, Apple is planning to launch the new MacBook Air as early as 2022. Dylan also claims that the new MacBook Air will have MagSafe for charging with a 30W power adapter, USB-C ports, a 1080p front facing camera like on the new MacBook Pro, and no fans inside the chassis like the previous generation MacBook Air. Jon Prosser recently shared new updated images of the new MacBook Air and both Dylan and Jon Prosser claim that there will be white bezels on the MacBook Air like how there are on the 24-inch iMac. Dylan isn’t too sure about there being a notch on the new design like how there is one on the MacBook Pro, but Jon Prosser claims that there will be a notch. Prosser also claims that the new MacBook Air will have a white keyboard. The new MacBook Air won’t have an HDMI port or SD Card Slot like the new MacBook Pro. It will also be powered by the new M2 chip instead of the M1 Pro and M1 Max which were recently announced for the new MacBook Pro. Dylan and Jon Prosser also claimed that the new MacBook Air will come in colors like the 24-inch iMac and the iPad Air which had a design refresh last year. This has been leaked by Jon Prosser a while back when he gave us a first look at the new MacBook Air. Finally, Jon Prosser claims that the new MacBook Air is not going to have the same wedge design we have been seeing since it has been out. • New images show alleged AirPods Pro 2 with speakers and minor design changes

Development of a second generation of AirPods 2 has been rumored for a while now alongside the recently released AirPods 3. The AirPods Pro have been rumored to launch sometime next year. A new image shared by Macrumors which was sent to them by a source with no track record claims that the images of the units they shared are the second generation AirPods Pro. The design looks very similar to the first generation AirPods Pro but the charging case now has speaker grills on the bottom right next to the lightning port. Apparently these speakers are for Find My detection which can give out a sound so people will know where to find them. There’s also a metal loop on the side of the case which allows people to attach a strap or lanyard to the AirPods Pro case. This hasn’t been done with any AirPods model before so it’s unclear if Apple will ever take this approach. There aren’t any design changes with the AirPods itself. It still has the same stems and the same rubber ear tips. Previous rumors from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggested that the new AirPods Pro 2 will be getting a new design with no stems and a design similar to the Galaxy Buds, Echo Buds, and Pixel Buds. There were rumors that Apple had a hard time getting all the components they needed to fit into the new small round chassis, so there is a possibility that the design changes were scrapped. AirPods Pro did receive an update last week which included the new MagSafe charging case which new models now ship with. The second generation AirPods Pro are expected to launch sometime in 2022. It‘s still unclear if the design will remain the same or if we will get a new design.

Ross Young has previously leaked that Apple was going to bring the mini-LED Pro Motion display to the MacBook Pro which ended up being true, so it’s possible for it to come to the iMac. Apple has already featured their new mini-LED technology in new products like the iPad Pro and recently, the new MacBook Pro. Ross Young is very accurate especially when it comes to display leaks since he’s a supply chain analyst. It is possible that these rumors might be true. Apple is expected to launch new products in early 2022 like the new redesigned MacBook Air alongside the new 27-inch iMac Pro, and also, the new AirPods Pro 2.
