- The entire iPhone 14 lineup might feature 120Hz Pro Motion display
Apple might be bringing its premium Pro feature to the entry level iPhone 14 models this Fall. In a new research note obtained by Macrumors from Haitong International Securities, supply chain analyst Jeff Pu gave some insights on what he believes could be coming to the iPhone 14 models. Jeff Pu expects all iPhone 14 models to have 120Hz Pro Motion display. The 120Hz Pro Motion display was introduced last year on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The 120Hz display was a major selling point for the iPhone 13 Pro models. Pu also claims that Apple will upgrade the RAM on the entry level iPhone 14 models from 4GB to 6GB. The iPhone 14 Pro models will still feature 6GB of RAM like the iPhone 13 Pro and 12 Pro models. If Pu’s expectations end up being true, then the entry level iPhone 14 models might be more popular than the Pro models. Recent rumors claimed that Apple plans on getting rid of the notch with a hole punch and pill shaped cutouts at the top of the display for the iPhone 14 Pro models, but the regular iPhone 14 models will still feature the notch. Perhaps the key selling point for the Pro models will only be the removal of the notch.

- The Beats Pill Plus Bluetooth speaker is the first product Apple discontinued this year
Apple discontinued the Beats Pill Plus speaker which was their only portable Bluetooth speaker. The removal of the Beats Pill Plus speaker from Apple and Beats online store was first reported by 9to5Mac. It’s unclear why Apple discontinued the product, but it makes sense since it was last updated back in 2015 and released under Apple after Apple acquired Beats in 2014. The Beats Pill Plus lost it’s popularity due to the HomePod which was discontinued and HomePod mini which is the only speaker Apple sells right now for $99. Unlike the Beats Pill Pro, the HomePod mini isn’t portable.
- iPhone 14 Pro will feature a new pill shaped and hole punch cutout as a replacement for the notch
Image: Ian Zelbo The iPhone 14 Pro has been rumored multiple times for having a hole punch camera design instead of a notch, but recent rumors have switched to it having a pill shaped cutout instead of a circular one. Now, a new rumor from Ross Young who is a 100% accurate claims that the iPhone 14 will have both a hole punch camera design and a pill shaped cutout on the top of the display. The hole punch cutout will house the front facing camera and the pill shaped cutout is rumored to house all of the Face ID sensors. ShrimpApplePro leaked an image showing what appears to be the rumored display for the iPhone 14 Pro back in September. The new rumors about the pill shaped cutout also eliminate rumors of Apple possibly putting Face ID under the display. The new hole punch camera design and pill shaped cutout will only be available on the Pro models. The regular iPhone 14 models will still have the same notch from the iPhone 13 lineup.
