As Apple’s WWDC 2024 approaches, a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicates that we shouldn’t anticipate any hardware announcements.
Unlike last year, which featured the introduction of the 15-inch MacBook Air, current rumors suggesting a new Apple TV release seem to be off the mark. Instead, Apple is expected to concentrate on unveiling updates for iOS 18, iPadOS, macOS 15, and watchOS 11, along with enhancements to visionOS.
In his Power On newsletter, Gurman wrote, "There's no hardware slated to be announced at WWDC, unless Apple unexpectedly previews a new device launching later (to be clear: I don't expect that)."
This statement appears conclusive. While there were prior hints about an Apple TV hardware refresh, Gurman now reports that it “isn't imminent,” despite recent price reductions in some European markets.
Additionally, Gurman suggests that no new Mac models will be revealed, noting that the M4 Mac lineup “isn't coming until the fall.” He adds, “I hope you like AI,” implying that Apple will heavily emphasize its advancements in the artificial intelligence arena during the keynote.
Gurman also mentions that to leverage many of the new features, users will need a recent iPhone Pro model. Meanwhile, Mac users with Intel processors might miss out on AI capabilities altogether.
As the tech world eagerly anticipates WWDC 2024, it seems clear that Apple’s spotlight will be on software innovation rather than new hardware releases.
