Apple CEO, Tim Cook gave a speech today at the Global Privacy Summit in Washington D.C. hosted by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
In Cook's speech he defended Apple's position on privacy by saying privacy is a fundamental human rights which Apple has always respected.
Cook also talked about some features Apple has made available to users to protect their privacy and their data like App Tracking Transparency. He also expressed concern for proposed regulations from European Union which would force Apple to take away these features to allow side-loading of apps on iPhone and accessible via third party sources outside of the App Store.
Cook also expressed concern over new policies that could form in the United States which would force Apple to allow Apps on the App Store that can track users without there permission and evade Apple's policies which were put in place to make sure users privacy and data are secured.
He also claimed how technology can be used to either help people or used for harm and that it was our decision to choose which one was right between the two.
Cook does claim that Apple supports new regulation but those that don't take away privacy protection from Apple users.
