Tesla brings car control to your wrist with new Apple Watch app

Tesla

Tesla is redefining convenience for its car owners with a new update that transforms the Apple Watch into a digital key. The upcoming watchOS app, set to debut later this month, will allow Tesla drivers to seamlessly control various aspects of their vehicle directly from their wrist. The move marks Tesla’s first official foray into smartwatch integration, providing a sleek alternative to traditional smartphone-based controls.

The app introduces a host of features designed to enhance the Tesla ownership experience. Users will be able to lock and unlock their cars, access the trunk and frunk, monitor battery levels, and even adjust climate settings—all without needing their phone. This development eliminates the need for third-party apps like Watch for Tesla, which owners previously relied on for similar functionality.

Tesla’s rollout of the watchOS app coincides with its highly anticipated annual holiday update, which brings additional upgrades to its ecosystem. Highlights include expanded remote access to Sentry Mode recordings and improved navigation features. The new Apple Watch capabilities, however, stand out as a major step toward greater integration between Tesla’s vehicles and wearable technology.
