Today Apple announced the new iPhone 14 models which has new features like a new satellite connectivity feature called Emergency SOS via Satellite, advanced cameras and more.
The iPhone 14 models comes in a 6.1-inch size and a 6.7-inch size called the iPhone 14 Plus. It has the same design as the iPhone 13 but instead has no mini model which was replaced by the plus model due to the lack of popularity the mini received. They both feature the same Retina XDR OLED display with True Tone and also has Haptic Touch. The display brightness can go up to 1,200 nits. It still however has the same A15 chip introduced with Apple's iPhone 13 models last year.
The rear camera has a new sensor for the Wide lens which improves low-light photography and the front facing camera has been updated to a 12-megapixel camera with autofocus. There's also a new feature called Photonic Engine which improved low-light performance and will deliver better quality images with more color.
A new feature that was heavily rumored was iPhone's ability to connect with a satellite in orbit to send Emergency SOS via Satellite in places with no cellular service. The messages will appear as gray bubbles which indicate that they're made using Emergency SOS. The new feature will also have a simple user interface which will notify you about the nearest satellite by holding up your iPhone and then connecting to it.
iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will be available in midnight, blue, starlight, and purple color options. There's 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options. iPhone 14 starts at $799 and iPhone 14 Plus starts at $899. You can pre order them this Friday and it will ship on Friday September 16. The iPhone 14 Plus will ship on Friday October 7.
