According to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is planning release new health features for the Apple Watch this year.
The first feature Apple has been working on is the ability to detect if a user has high blood pressure. Apple has been working on this feature for a while and the feature isn’t accurate enough for them to release to the public.
Another groundbreaking feature Apple is working on is a noninvasive blood glucose monitor. This feature is several years down the road and Apple has said that they will be helping to improve third party blood glucose monitors and they’re interaction with the Health app.
Apple is also working on a body temperature sensor which will alert users if they have a higher than normal body temperature.
There are also reports of new features coming for women that Apple is working on to implement into the Apple Watch.
In iOS 16, Apple is planning to bring improvements to the Health app like bringing more features for sleep tracking, as well as new medicine features. Apple will allow users to scan their pills into the Health app and give users reminders on when to take them. The initial version will not include all these new features.
Gurman claims that team members in the Apple Health team have been unhappy with the progress of the division with not many risks being taken and features taking way too long to be implemented.
