New EU law might require the iPhone to switch from lightning to USB-C port

A new law presented by the EU might require Apple to bring USB-C ports on the iPhone and get rid of the lightning port.

The European Union wants a common charging port to be present on all smartphones sold in all of it’s member countries. This new law will significantly affect Apple since they’re the only big smartphone manufacturer which hasn’t adapted USB-C on their phones.

Apple fired back by saying the new law will create a lot of waste since consumers would have to switch from lightning to USB-C cables.

The European Union will present the new law next week. If the law gets voted on, Apple might be forced to ship iPhones in the EU with a USB-C port.
