Apple is expected to still continue using Qualcomm modems for the new 2023 iPhone models, according to reports from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
Apple is reportedly working on their own custom modems for their devices but it's unclear if it will be ready in time for the 2023 iPhone models.
According to a previous report from Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo, Apple has failed at their attempt at making their own modem and it will take time before Apple can get their own modems out, but in the meantime Qualcomm will supply Apple with modems for Apple products until 2023.
The fact that Apple is still planning a transition to their own custom modems is once again shared by Gurman. Qualcomm also claimed that they will supply 20% of Apple devices in 2023 with their modems.
It's not clear how long it will take before Apple finally adds their own modem to their devices but Apple does have ongoing disputes with Qualcomm and is trying fast to end their reliance on them.
Apple also acquired Intel's modem division to help them build their 5G modem faster and give them the resources they need to do so.
