Here's What Apple Likely Won't Announce at Its Upcoming Event

Steve Jobs Theater

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, in a recent report, suggests that Apple has a few tricks up its sleeve beyond the imminent "Let loose" special event. Gurman points out five significant announcements that won't be part of the show next week.

Firstly, Apple is brewing up some advanced AI features, possibly to be teased with the next-gen iPad Pro but officially unveiled at WWDC in June alongside iPadOS 18. Secondly, there's talk of a more budget-friendly version of the 10th-gen iPad from 2022, expected to replace the current $449 variant but likely not until the year's end or later.

Next, a refreshed iPad mini with enhanced performance thanks to a faster chip is in the works but won't be announced alongside next week's event. Additionally, despite the buzz around the upcoming ‌iPad Pro‌ models possibly featuring the M4 chip destined for future Macs, Apple isn't ready to showcase any new Mac models just yet.

Lastly, while whispers abound regarding the fourth iteration of AirPods nearing production, they're expected to debut only in the fall, coinciding with the release of the iPhone 16 lineup.

The "Let loose" event will likely focus primarily on unveiling revamped ‌iPad Pro‌ models with OLED displays, alongside two fresh iPad Air models, a premium Magic Keyboard accessory, and a new Apple Pencil. Scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, at 7 a.m. Pacific Time (10 a.m. Eastern Time), the event will be live-streamed on Apple.com and YouTube.
