Here's how to use Freeform on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Freeform is a powerful tool for creating and organizing content on your iPhone or iPad. Whether you're brainstorming, planning a project, or collaborating with others, Freeform offers a flexible workspace to suit your needs. Follow this guide to get started with Freeform and make the most of its features.


Step 1: Install and Open Freeform

  • Install: Ensure Freeform is installed on your device from the App Store.

  • Open: Launch the Freeform app by tapping its icon.


Step 2: Create a New Board

  1. New Board:

  • Tap the + icon or New Board button to create a new workspace.

  • Name your board to keep your projects organized.

Step 3: Add Content to Your Board

Freeform supports various types of content, including text, images, and shapes. Here’s how to add them:

  1. Text:

  • Tap the T icon to add a text box.

  • Type your text and use the formatting options (font size, color, style) to customize it.

  1. Images:

  • Tap the image icon to insert photos or images.

  • Select from your photo library or take a new photo.

  1. Shapes and Drawings:

  • Tap the shape icon to add geometric shapes, arrows, or custom drawings.

  • Use the drawing tools (pen, pencil, marker) to sketch directly on the board.


Step 4: Organize Your Content

  1. Move and Resize:

  • Tap and hold on an item to move it around the board.

  • Pinch to resize images and shapes.

  1. Layers and Stacking:

  • Tap an item to bring up the options menu.

  • Use the Arrange option to bring items forward or send them backward.


Step 5: Collaborate with Others

  1. Share Your Board:

  • Tap the share icon to invite others to collaborate on your board.

  • Send an invite via email, message, or a shared link.

  1. Real-Time Collaboration:

  • Collaborators can edit the board simultaneously.

  • Changes appear in real-time, making it easy to work together.


Step 6: Save and Export Your Board

  1. Save Automatically:

  • Freeform saves your work automatically, so you never lose your progress.

  1. Export:

  • Tap the share icon and select Export to save your board as a PDF or image.

  • Share your board via email, cloud storage, or other apps.


Tips for Using Freeform

  • Templates: Use pre-made templates for common tasks like mind mapping, project planning, and more.

  • Widgets: Add widgets like checklists, calendars, and reminders to keep track of tasks and deadlines.

  • Customization: Personalize your boards with different backgrounds and color schemes to make them visually appealing.
