Here's how to setup and use Dual SIM on iPhone

Dual SIM setup

Dual SIM functionality allows you to use two different phone numbers and carrier plans on one iPhone. This can be particularly useful for separating work and personal calls or for using local and international numbers simultaneously. Follow this tutorial to set up and use Dual SIM on your iPhone.

Step 1: Check Compatibility

  • Supported Models: iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, and later.

  • iOS Update: Ensure your iPhone is running the latest iOS version.

Step 2: Insert SIM Cards

  1. Physical SIM:

  • Use a SIM ejector tool to open the SIM tray.

  • Insert your primary SIM card and close the tray.

  1. eSIM:

  • Go to Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan.

  • Scan your carrier's QR code or enter details manually.

Step 3: Label Your Plans

  • After setup, label your plans (e.g., “Personal” and “Work”) for easy identification.

Step 4: Set Default Line

  • Go to Settings > Cellular > Default Voice Line.

  • Choose which number to use by default for calls and messages.

Step 5: Select Data Plan

  • Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data.

  • Choose which line to use for data. Enable Allow Cellular Data Switching for automatic switching during calls.

Step 6: Using Dual SIM

  1. Calls:

  • Select the line for outgoing calls by tapping the line label when dialing.

  • Set a preferred line for each contact in their contact details.

  1. Messages:

  • Choose the line for new messages by tapping the line label in the message composition screen.

  • Incoming messages show labels indicating the receiving line.

Tips for Dual SIM Usage

  • Work and Personal: Separate work and personal communications.

  • Travel: Use a local SIM for travel while keeping your home number active.
