Here's how to Install the iOS 18 Developer Beta on Your iPhone

Apple has released the first iOS 18 developer beta following the WWDC 2024 keynote. This year, Apple has streamlined the process, making it easier for developers to access the beta directly from the Settings app without needing to download a configuration profile. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to install the iOS 18 developer beta on your iPhone.


Prerequisites

Before starting, ensure the following:

  • You are a member of the Apple Developer Program.

  • Your iPhone is compatible with iOS 18.

  • Your Apple ID is registered as a developer ID.

  • You have backed up your iPhone to avoid any data loss.



Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Open Settings

  • On your iPhone, open the Settings app.

  1. Access Software Update

  • Navigate to General.

  • Tap on Software Update.

  1. Enable Developer Beta

  • Tap on Beta Updates.

  • Select iOS 18 Developer Beta.

  1. Download and Install iOS 18 Beta

  • Ensure your Apple ID is the one registered with the Apple Developer Program.

  • The iOS 18 developer beta should now appear. Tap Download and Install.

How to Revert to iOS 17

If you encounter issues and wish to uninstall the iOS 18 developer beta, follow these steps:

  1. Backup Data: Ensure all critical data is backed up via iCloud or another method.

  2. Connect to Mac or PC

  • Make sure you are running the latest version of macOS or have the latest version of iTunes on your PC.

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer.

  1. Enter Recovery Mode

  • Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.

  • Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.

  • Press and hold the Side button until the recovery mode screen appears.

  1. Restore Your iPhone

  • On your Mac or PC, when the Restore/Update option appears, select Restore.

  • This process will erase your iPhone and install the latest non-beta version of iOS.

  • Follow the prompts to complete the restoration.
