Google has launched a standalone Gemini app for iPhone, providing users with an enhanced way to interact with its AI technology.
Previously available only within the Google app, Gemini now features Gemini Live, allowing users to engage directly from the Dynamic Island and Lock Screen, eliminating the need to keep the app open.
Initially soft-launched in the Philippines, the app is now available in the US, UK, India, and Australia. The basic version is free, with a Gemini Advanced tier available through Google’s One AI Premium subscription at $19 per month.
Compatible with iPhones running iOS 16 and later, even older models like the iPhone 8 and X can access Gemini, setting it apart from Apple’s AI approach, which relies on on-device processing for newer devices.
This dedicated app reflects Google’s aim to broaden its AI reach on iOS, offering users an accessible AI experience within the Google ecosystem.
