A new report from The Verge claims that Facebook is planning to change it’s corporate name to a new one that only a few people in the company know about.
The company is planning to change it’s name because it wants to focus on the metaverse and doesn’t want to be known as just being a social media company.
A source shared the news to The Verge and said that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will announce the new corporate name at next week’s Facebook Connect conference.
Facebook changed their corporate name previously to “FACEBOOK” in all capital letters which represented the parent company and “facebook” was just the social network.
The name change will be similar to how to Google changed their corporate name to Alphabet in 2015 because they wanted to be known for more things other than just being a search engine.
Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Oculus will all fall under the new corporate name which will be the parent company.
