As the first Apple event of 2024, "Let Loose," approaches on May 7, all attention is focused on the iPad. It's no secret that the iPad experienced a hardware update drought throughout 2023, resulting in declining sales. However, Apple is set to reverse this trend with its lineup scheduled for May 7.

As anticipation grows, here's a roundup of what to expect at the event:

iPad Pro:

The Apple event is set to shine a long-awaited spotlight on the next-generation iPad Pro models, representing a significant departure from previous iterative updates.

Expectations are high for OLED displays on both the 12.9-inch and 11-inch models, promising enhanced visual experiences with improved brightness and contrast. Thinner profiles are also anticipated, driven by the adoption of smaller components required by OLED technology. Additionally, a new and improved chip, likely the M3 or M4, will ensure high performance and future-proofing.

Responding to user feedback, the iPad Pro lineup is expected to relocate its front-facing camera to the long side of the bezel, enhancing video conferencing experiences and user engagement. Alongside the iPad Pro refresh, a new suite of accessories tailored for professional use is anticipated, offering enhanced functionality and compatibility.

However, consumers may need to prepare for potential price increases across both iPad Pro models, with reports suggesting a hike of at least $100 from current base prices.

iPad Air:

There will also be upgrades to the iPad Air with the introduction of a 12.9-inch iPad Air model which will mark a significant expansion of the lineup, providing users with more choices and flexibility. Notably, the iPad Air is not expected to support the new Magic Keyboard, and the exclusivity of the Pencil 3 to the Pro line remains uncertain.

Magic Keyboard

The current Magic Keyboard prioritizes aesthetics over practicality, aiming to minimize bulk and weight, but with only partial success. However, the upcoming Magic Keyboard, designed exclusively for the iPad Pro, is set to undergo a significant transformation towards a more professional-grade experience.

One notable alteration expected is the adoption of an aluminum base, providing a sturdier foundation that lends the iPad a more laptop-like feel. Additionally, users can anticipate a larger trackpad, addressing a common gripe about the current Magic Keyboard's undersized trackpad compared to its MacBook counterparts.

While specifics remain scarce, there's a prevalent desire among users for the new Magic Keyboard to include a row of function keys. This addition would align with the accessory's shift towards targeting professional users, potentially enhancing productivity and workflow efficiency.

Apple Pencil 3:

The Apple Pencil family is on the brink of expansion, with the impending arrival of a third-generation Apple Pencil. A standout new feature on the horizon could be magnetically interchangeable tips, promising to replicate the tactile experience of using various artistic tools. These interchangeable tips might cater to different tasks, such as painting, drawing, or calligraphy, enhancing versatility and user experience.

Additionally, Pencil 3 is rumored to integrate with Find My, allowing users to easily locate their misplaced stylus. Furthermore, akin to the functionality found in AirPods, a "squeeze" gesture is expected to be introduced, offering users an intuitive way to access additional features and commands.

New Accessories:

Apple consistently updates its range of Apple Watch bands, iPhone cases, and iPad cases, frequently unveiling fresh color variations. With the arrival of summer, we anticipate the introduction of vibrant new hues for many accessories. Additionally, Apple will likely revamp its iPad cases to complement the latest designs and color options, ensuring a seamless and stylish match for users' devices.

Apple Vision Pro Updates:

Speculations are circulating about Apple's plans to broaden the availability of the Vision Pro headset to more countries ahead of WWDC, with time running short. There's buzz suggesting that the May 7 event could serve as the platform for Apple to introduce the Vision Pro in regions such as the UK, Canada, China, and more.

The "Let Loose" event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7th, and will kick off at 7:00 a.m. Pacific Time or 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Apple enthusiasts can catch the live stream of the event directly on Apple's website, YouTube, or the Apple TV app.
