Apple’s next-gen Pro Display XDR will most likely feature Quantum-Dot technology

Apple is rumored to be preparing a next-generation Pro Display XDR, potentially featuring advanced quantum-dot display technology already used in the latest MacBook Pro models.

Display industry expert Ross Young has suggested the upgrade could improve color accuracy and motion clarity, addressing limitations of the current model’s KSF phosphor film.

Released in 2019, the original Pro Display XDR set a high standard with its 32-inch 6K LCD panel and impressive brightness but lacked features like a built-in camera, speakers, or higher refresh rates. Rumors also hint at the inclusion of Apple silicon, similar to the Studio Display’s A13 Bionic, to enable smart features like spatial audio and Siri integration.

While there’s no official word on its release, the Pro Display XDR 2 could bring transformative upgrades for creative professionals, redefining Apple’s flagship external monitor.
