After over a decade, Apple’s Final Cut Pro has made a major leap with version 11, now powered by advanced AI tools designed to elevate video editing.
The update introduces Magnetic Mask, an AI-driven tool that simplifies background removal and object isolation without needing a green screen, allowing editors to customize and stylize scenes with greater precision. Another powerful addition, Transcribe to Captions, uses Apple’s in-house language model to automatically generate subtitles, making it easier for creators to add captions seamlessly to their projects.
This version also brings support for Spatial Video editing, in line with Apple’s push into 3D content creation with the Vision Pro headset and recent iPhones. Editors can adjust the depth of titles and layer effects, creating immersive experiences optimized for spatial displays.
Designed for the M-series chips, Final Cut Pro 11 handles complex projects smoothly, enabling multiple 4K and 8K stream playbacks and improved Magnetic Timeline features that keep audio in sync during clip rearrangements, boosting overall workflow efficiency.
In tandem, Apple has updated Final Cut Pro for iPad, enhancing the touch interface with improved color and lighting tools to bring its portable version closer to the desktop experience.
Available as a free update for existing users, Final Cut Pro 11 reasserts Apple’s dedication to professional-grade video editing, harnessing AI advancements for a streamlined, powerful editing environment.
