Apple’s legal team has recently been sending letters to leakers about how they should stop leaking information which isn’t public. Apple sent these letters to many leakers including Kang and Jon Prosser, as well as other collaborators.
In the letters, Apple said that they don’t like the rumors since it misleads customers and gives their competitors insights into new products or services that are in the pipeline. They also thanked the leakers in the letter for their enthusiasm for Apple products but warned them to not leak any more products.
Apple has also started cracking down on employees. Employees who get caught leaking products get sued and terminated from the company. Apple is a very secretive company and believes that surprising people with new products would get them excited. They believe that rumors affect their company that’s why they try really hard to stop rumors from spreading.
Most leakers and journalists who live in the U.S. are protected by Freedom of the Press laws, but those living outside of the U.S. will have a tough time with Apple’s legal team if they continue leaking products.
