According to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is reportedly testing out nine different Mac models with four different M2 chip variants which are supposed to be the successor of the M1 chip lineup.
The report claims that Apple is using the M2, M2 Pro, M2 Max, and a successor chip to the new M1 Ultra chip for the Mac Studio and Mac Pro.
The new Mac models being tested with the new chips are the following.
MacBook Air with the M2 chip which has an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU.
Mac mini in two variations with one having the M2 chip and the other model having the M2 Pro chip.
13” MacBook Pro for entry level users with the M2 chip.
14” and 16” MacBook Pro models with the M2 Pro and M2 Max chip.
Mac Studio and Mac Pro with an M1 Ultra successor chip.
The report also claims that new Macs being tested means that we‘re very close to a release of all these new models in the coming months.
With many previous rumors claiming that Apple is working on a new MacBook Air model, new entry level MacBook Pro models, Mac Pro, and Mac mini, it’s possible for us to see these new Macs this year with the new M2 chip.
