Apple is gearing up to produce the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in India for the first time, a move that signals a significant expansion of the company's manufacturing footprint in the region. According to Money Control, production will be handled at Foxconn's Sriperumbudur facility in Tamil Nadu.
The decision to manufacture these high-end models in India aligns with Apple’s ongoing strategy to enhance its production capabilities in the country. This expansion follows years of deliberation and is aimed at ensuring that iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models are readily available in India shortly after their global launch.
The initial phase of iPhone 16 series availability will see the Pro models imported into India. However, domestic production of these models is expected to commence within the same fiscal year, mirroring the approach taken with the iPhone 15 Plus.
This strategic shift not only aims to streamline supply chains but also to cater to the growing demand for premium smartphones in the Indian market.
