Apple Introduces Advanced Calculator and Math Notes in iPadOS 18

Math Notes on iPad

At WWDC, Apple revealed an all-new Calculator app as part of iPadOS 18, featuring special support for the Apple Pencil and an innovative Math Notes capability.

The Math Notes feature allows users to type or handwrite mathematical expressions and receive instant solutions displayed in their handwriting. This functionality extends to assigning values to variables, making it useful for learning new concepts, budgeting, and more.

A standout addition is the graphing feature, enabling users to write or type equations and generate graphs with a single tap. Users can add multiple equations to the same graph, providing a visual representation of their relationships. Math Notes are seamlessly integrated into the Notes app, accessible through a dedicated Math Notes folder.

The iPad app includes both basic and scientific calculators, designed to clearly display complete expressions before solving them. Additionally, a History feature tracks previous calculations, and built-in unit conversions allow quick transformations of length, weight, currencies, and other measurements.

The first developer beta of iPadOS 18 is available today, with a public beta set for July and a full public release anticipated in the fall. This update brings powerful new tools to the iPad, enhancing its functionality and making it an even more versatile device for users.
