Today Apple introduced a new Spatial Audio and Lossless Audio feature for Apple Music. These features will be available in iOS 14.6, iPadOS 14.6, macOS 11.4, and tvOS 14.6.
You will be able to listen to Apple Music in Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos with no additional cost. Apple said Spatial Audio is an immersive three dimensional audio format that makes the music sound like it’s playing all around you.
Users will be able to listen to music in Dolby Atmos with AirPods or Beats headphones with the W1 or H1 chip or any other headphones. They can also listen to it with the speakers on their iPhone, iPad, MacBook, or HomePod.
Lastly, Apple introduced two new tiers for Lossless Audio. There is a Lossless tier which allows for audio up to 48kHz and a Hi-Res Lossless tier which allows for audio up 192kHz.
Apple didn’t announce when the new features will be coming to Apple Music, but the release should be imminent.
