Accessory makers for the iPhone 16 are already preparing for the new rumored action button

A leaked image shared by Sonny Dickson indicates that at least one accessory maker is gearing up for the rumored Capture button on the iPhone 16. The third-party iPhone 16 Pro case showcased by Dickson features a cutout below the power button, believed to be the designated spot for the Capture button. While it remains uncertain whether the accessory maker has insider knowledge or is banking on the rumor, the move suggests anticipation for the speculated change.

Reports previously surfaced about Apple's purported plans to introduce a Capture button across all iPhone 16 models set to launch later this year. This button is said to offer convenient access to camera controls for capturing photos and videos. Allegedly, users will be able to perform functions like zooming by swiping on the button and initiating video recordings with different levels of pressure.

Given the button's touch-sensitive nature and anticipated flush integration with the frame, the case's inclusion of a cutout is understandable.

Positioned ideally on the top edge of iPhone 16 models during horizontal video recording, the Capture button would serve as a convenient shutter button. This placement would necessitate relocating the mmWave 5G antenna window to the bottom-left edge for U.S. models, beneath the volume buttons. International versions of iPhone models from 12 to 15 lack this window, as they exclusively support sub-6 GHz 5G.

Apple is anticipated to unveil the iPhone 16 series in September.
