Apple is gearing up for a busy fall, with the iPhone 16 event set for Monday and rumors swirling about an additional event in October. While the spotlight is currently on the upcoming iPhone, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman hinted at more exciting news on the horizon, specifically regarding the iPad mini.
According to his latest report, Apple is preparing to unveil a new iPad mini during the October event, which will likely also introduce the first Macs featuring the M4 series chips.
While details about the seventh-generation iPad mini remain scarce, speculation suggests it will see improvements in both performance and functionality. Past reports have indicated that the refreshed model could come with a faster processor, possibly addressing the long-standing "jelly scrolling" issue that some users experienced with the current version. In addition, the upgraded iPad mini may include improved cameras, along with enhanced wireless connectivity features like Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
The iPad mini, last updated in September 2021, brought significant changes at the time, such as an 8.3-inch display, 5G support, and compatibility with the second-generation Apple Pencil.
Gurman also mentioned that other iPad models might be part of the event's announcements, leaving room for speculation that the entry-level iPad could receive updates as well. Adding further intrigue to the October timeline, Apple is expected to introduce the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, Mac mini, and iMac, all powered by the new M4 chips.
With both the iPhone 16 and iPad mini launches potentially happening in quick succession, Apple’s lineup could get a major boost in the coming months.
